Following the directives of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the UAE has opened a comprehensive field hospital in Chad to support Sudanese refugees. The "UAE Field Hospital" has been inaugurated in the city of Abéché to provide medical services and care to the Sudanese brothers seeking refuge in Chad, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
The hospital, opened by Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, includes:
- Departments for pediatrics, gynecology, obstetrics, orthopedics, general surgery, and internal medicine.
- An operating room, emergency medicine, a laboratory, a pharmacy, and various radiology departments.
- It has 10 intensive care unit beds and 50 inpatient beds, among other medical specialties.
- The workforce consists of 22 doctors, 92 nurses, along with 12 medical support staff and 41 non-medical support staff.
- It is operated by Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi.
The opening of the field hospital aligns with the UAE leadership's commitment to provide continuous humanitarian and relief support to Sudanese brothers, alleviate the living burdens imposed by war conditions, and meet their medical, humanitarian, and relief needs. This reflects the UAE's enduring approach to stand by its brethren and extend assistance in various circumstances.
