UAE Calls for Restraint and Avoidance of Escalation in the Region

The UAE expressed its "serious concern" over the continued tensions in the region and called for "refraining from taking steps that exacerbate the escalation," following reports that Israel targeted sites deep within Iran early today. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, said: "The UAE calls for exercising the utmost restraint to avoid the serious repercussions and pull the region into new levels of instability." The ministry emphasized the "necessity of finding a fundamental solution to the existing conflicts and crises in the region, reducing tensions, resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomatic channels, and adhering to the rule of law and respect for the United Nations Charter." The ministry renewed its call for the United Nations and the Security Council to "fulfill their responsibilities in promoting international peace and security by addressing chronic issues and conflicts in the region that threaten global security and stability."
