Germany Summons Its Ambassador to Russia Due to Cyberattack

Germany has announced its intention to summon its ambassador to Moscow, Alexander Lambsdorff, for consultation following allegations against Russia of conducting what has been termed a "cyberattack" on the German Social Democratic Party's websites. A representative from the German Foreign Ministry indicated that German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has decided to bring Ambassador Lambsdorff to Berlin for consultations, where he will remain for a week before returning to Moscow. The German Foreign Ministry had previously summoned the acting lawyer specializing in Russian affairs due to the alleged cyberattack, while the Russian embassy firmly rejected any connection to this attack by any Russian governmental structures or institutions. The Russian embassy stated that the actions taken by the German Foreign Ministry are "an unfriendly step aimed at inciting anti-Russian sentiment in Germany, leading to further deterioration of Russian-German relations."
