Algerian security services reported today, Tuesday, that efforts by anti-drug trafficking units have led to the seizure of 169 kg of cocaine and more than 7 million psychoactive pills over the past four months. The General Directorate of National Security in Algeria stated that "police units responsible for combating illicit drug trafficking have made tremendous efforts to curb the trade of these poisons."

During an awareness day on "Combating Addiction and Its Prevention," it was revealed that "more than 7 tons of cannabis have been seized in 2023, and during the first four months of 2024, 1 ton and 869 kg were confiscated. Additionally, security services seized 169 kg of cocaine in 2023 and 64 kg during the first four months of this year."

It was also noted that "595 grams of heroin and more than 7 million psychoactive pills were seized over four months nationwide." The General Directorate of National Security emphasized that "combating drugs is one of its priorities, in accordance with the established national strategy, and it has worked to enhance its capabilities in this area to address the phenomenon both operationally and preventively."
