A leader in Hamas announced that the movement will not send a delegation to Cairo tomorrow, indicating that it has not accepted what was offered by the mediators. The leader confirmed that Hamas will not agree to start from "point zero" again, after previously accepting the earlier proposal. He added, "Our fundamental condition now is to receive an official and clear Israeli approval on the previous proposal; otherwise, we cannot engage in rounds and discussions from scratch."
He also expressed Hamas's surprise at "the continuous request from the U.S. administration to the mediators for prior approval, while the Israeli side is not in agreement." Therefore, "we will not discuss any proposal unless it has prior Israeli approval."
On the other hand, the American site Axios reported today, Tuesday, that a Hamas delegation would arrive in Egypt today to discuss the ceasefire proposal in Gaza announced by U.S. President Joe Biden, with Egyptian and Qatari mediators. The site quoted Israeli officials expressing their belief that Hamas would not categorically reject the proposal but would seek to make amendments to it.
Additionally, Israeli channel Kan reported that the war council decided not to send a delegation to Cairo until receiving positive signals from the mediators.
