The Parliament is preparing for a second session to elect a president tomorrow, Thursday, amid the announcement that the "Lebanon Rising" bloc will boycott the session due to its coincidence with the remembrance of October 13, which will be commemorated by their party. Notably, a delegation from the party had visited Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rai and handed him their presidential document.
Attention is turning to the change-making MPs who voted for Salim Edda in the first session, and whether they will change their position, especially since they are holding ongoing communications and meetings with other blocs to agree on a candidate. In this context, MP Najat Aoun Saliba revealed that "the bloc will hold a press conference today to announce its chosen candidate, noting that we have 3 candidates we are working on, which are Nassif Hitti, Salah Hani, and Ziad Baroud."
She pointed out in a conversation with "Al-Anbaa" that "communication is ongoing with the blocs to inform them about these names, and we are ready to open a discussion with the candidate MP Michel Moawad if he shows openness and willingness to communicate with everyone without exception, as this is one of our conditions."
Saliba anticipated that the session would take place despite the absence of the "Lebanon Rising" bloc MPs; however, the atmosphere suggests that there will be no effective outcome in light of the absence of a large number of MPs. Rapid developments are taking place as the current term nears its end before entering the period post-October 31, which may bring further developments and implications.
