The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights announced today, Tuesday, that his office is following reports of the discovery of a mass grave in the desert on the Libyan-Tunisian border, condemning the successive and alarming developments in Libya. Volker Turk stated before the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, "I urge the authorities to respond promptly to our inquiries and to thoroughly investigate these crimes." He denounced the "widespread" violations against migrants and refugees, affirming that the families of "those who were killed have the right to know the truth." The International Organization for Migration noted that in March, the bodies of at least 65 migrants were discovered in a mass grave in southwestern Libya.
