Qatar Reaffirms Commitment to Mediation Efforts in Gaza Crisis

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Muhammad Al-Ansari emphasized that the country is committed to mediation efforts in the Gaza crisis but is currently in a phase of reassessment. He called for a halt to the anticipated Israeli attack on Rafah. Al-Ansari stated, "We are committed to working to prevent further security collapse in the region and to spare children the ravages of war that extend to the whole world, as there is a whole generation of orphans in the Gaza Strip."

He noted that "there is a sense of frustration among mediators due to the failure to reach an agreement during Ramadan," stressing, "We need to reassess mediation efforts at this stage." He pointed out, "We have expressed our frustration over the repeated attacks on mediation efforts, especially those made by Qatar," reminding that ministers in Benjamin Netanyahu's government have made negative remarks about Qatar's role.

Al-Ansari affirmed that "no party in the international community can accept the attack on Rafah, which is already suffering," highlighting that "we must all work to stop the anticipated Israeli attack on Rafah and to stop the war itself." He added, "Coordination is ongoing with our partners in Turkey regarding ways to stop the war on Gaza," noting that "Turkey is one of the most important countries supporting Qatar's mediation efforts to end the war on Gaza." He reiterated that "Qatar is committed to mediation efforts in the Gaza crisis, but it is currently in a phase of reassessment," welcoming the decision of several European countries to recognize a Palestinian state.
