The Canadian Olympic Committee has dismissed women's soccer coach Bev Priestman after the Canadian Soccer Association decided to suspend her due to a scandal involving a drone spying incident. Canadian Soccer Association CEO and General Secretary Kevin Blue stated, "Over the past twenty-four hours, we received additional information regarding the use of a drone against competitors ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games."
He added in a statement, "In light of this new information, the Canadian Soccer Association has decided to suspend national women's team coach Bev Priestman for the remainder of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games until the completion of the independent external investigation we recently announced."
The Canadian Olympic Committee confirmed that assistant coach Andy Spence will lead the women's team, which won the gold medal at the 2020 Olympics, for the remaining competitions in the Summer Olympics in Paris.
