English football club Chelsea announced on Monday that they have signed young American international defender Caleb Wiley to bolster their squad in preparation for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. Wiley joins Chelsea from Atlanta United, signing a six-year contract with an option for an additional year, in a deal that will cost the London club $10.9 million according to reports. The Blues stated on their website, "Chelsea is pleased to announce the signing of American international Caleb Wiley." Wiley, 19, has played as a left-back for the Atlanta first team since 2022 and made his international debut for his country against Mexico in October 2023. Wiley will also participate with the U.S. national team in the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he is currently present.
