Ukraine has unveiled the 'Korall' anti-aircraft missile launcher platform for the first time, designed to intercept aerial and ballistic targets, during a defense exhibition in Poland.
A photo released by the Ukrainian company 'Ukroboronprom' showed a missile launching from a self-propelled platform mounted on a Czech 'Tatra' truck.
According to the military website 'Militarnyi,' the missile weighs approximately 450 kilograms, with a warhead weighing 36 kilograms, and measures 4.8 meters in length.
The 'Korall' relies on a guidance system combining inertial navigation, radio correction, and an active radar guidance head.
The project began development in 2016, with a prototype missile revealed in 2021, introduced as a versatile weapon adaptable to both land and sea-based air defense systems.
Initial estimates placed the missile's range at approximately 30 kilometers with an engagement altitude of up to 10 kilometers, although the company noted that specifications could be adjusted according to operational needs.
Through this project, Ukraine aims to develop a multi-layered domestic air defense system, amid ongoing needs to enhance its capabilities against missiles, aircraft, and drones.
