A leadership delegation from the Palestinian movement Hamas, headed by political bureau member Musa Abu Marzouk, arrived today, Thursday, in Moscow. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated, "A high-level delegation from the Palestinian movement Hamas is visiting Moscow." During a news conference on Thursday, she mentioned that she would inform the media later about the discussions. She emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire, the opening of humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Zakharova also noted separately that Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani is currently visiting Moscow and has held talks with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin. It is worth mentioning that Bagheri Kani is the chief Iranian nuclear negotiator.
On another note, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson viewed the deployment of U.S. "Patriot" missile defense systems in the Middle East as provocative, leading to increased tensions, while the region requires a rapid de-escalation. She said that Washington aims to enhance its security at the expense of others through these tactics, which results in a counterproductive effect by destabilizing the situation in the Middle East, potentially extending beyond the region.
Since the launch of Hamas and other Palestinian factions' operation "Al-Aqsa Flood" on October 7, the Gaza Strip has been subjected to Israeli bombing from land, sea, and air.
