# Five-Way Battle for the Lebanon Football Championship Title

In the sixth round of the Lebanese football league, 16 goals were recorded, averaging (2.6) goals per match, with the previous round witnessing the same figure, bringing the total tally to 98 goals scored during 36 matches, averaging (2.7) goals per match. Al-Ansar, who had the highest score in this round, solidified their position in the ranking as the team with the best attack with 18 goals, while their Senegalese top scorer, Hajj Malik Tal, distanced himself at the top of the scoring list after scoring two goals against Al-Tadamun, raising his tally to 8 goals. His teammate Hassan Maatouk has become his closest rival with 5 goals, after also scoring a brace, alongside Al-Barjih's scorer Mohamed Sadiq.

Al-Barj, who won 2-0 against Al-Ikhaa Al-Ahli Aaley, remains the team with the most wins, successfully maintaining its lead in the standings with a perfect score (18 points) and also boasts the best defense, having conceded only 3 goals. Notably, Al-Ikhaa Al-Ahli still stands alone without earning any points following their sixth consecutive loss, being the only team alongside Tripoli, which lost to Al-Najma 2-0, that has not tasted victory. Meanwhile, Al-Najma is currently the worst in defense at this stage of the league, having conceded 18 goals.

At the end of this round, Al-Barj (18 points) widened the gap from its closest rivals, Al-Ansar and Shabab Al-Sahil, by four points. The latter nearly lost its sixth point with a third draw, had it not been for a last-minute penalty goal against Salam Zgharta. The defending champion, Al-Ahed, and Al-Najma continued to secure more victories, with the former overcoming Shabab Al-Ghazieh 2-1 and the latter passing past Tripoli 2-0, keeping each of them five points away from the top, from which Al-Safa continues to fall back.

Al-Safa's stumble against Al-Hekmeh 1-3 kept their tally at 8 points, now only a point ahead of their neighbor Al-Hekmeh, making the battle for advancement toward the warm zone, where the title race is hot, intensify in the five remaining rounds of the first half. It’s worth mentioning that Al-Tadamun and Shabab Al-Ghazieh are not far behind, each possessing 5 points compared to 3 for Salam Zgharta.

It is noted that at the end of the first half, teams will be divided into two groups: the top six will compete for the title, while the six in the lower section of the standings will fight to avoid relegation, which will affect two of them.
