Syrian President Bashar al-Assad met with a delegation that included several leaders and representatives of Palestinian factions to discuss the results of reconciliation talks that took place among Palestinian factions in Algeria in recent days, as well as ways to enhance these reconciliations in light of the rising popular resistance against the Israeli occupation and its ongoing crimes in Palestinian territories.
President Assad emphasized that the significance of the Algerian talks lies in the unity achieved among Palestinians, stating that this unity is the foundation for working to serve the Palestinian cause. He underscored that the unity of the Palestinian front is essential for its strength in facing the occupation and regaining rights, pointing out that all attempts to erase this cause from the consciousness of new generations in the Arab region, especially in Palestine, will not succeed. He noted that what is happening now in all Palestinian territories proves that new generations are still committed to resistance.
The Syrian president reaffirmed Syria's continuous support for resistance in all forms, stemming from the deep beliefs and principles of the Syrian people regarding the issue of resistance on one hand, and from their interests on the other. He stressed that resisting is not just a viewpoint but a principle and a foundation for regaining rights, and it is inherent to humanity, assuring that Syria will not change and will remain a supporter of resistance.
For their part, members of the delegation confirmed that Syria is a fundamental pillar and the linchpin in the issue of resistance, expressing that all Palestinian people and factions appreciate Syria's importance, status, role, and sacrifices. They indicated that Syria has historically been a shelter for resistance and a stronghold during times of difficulty. They regarded Syria as the strategic depth of Palestine, affirming that all Palestinian factions stand with Syria in its steadfastness against international aggression and against the American-Zionist project, noting that this meeting will significantly boost the morale of the Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank, and the diaspora.
