Egyptian media revealed that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued a decision today, Monday, to renew the appointment of Hassan Abdullah as Acting Governor of the Central Bank for another year, marking the third consecutive time. El-Sisi had issued a decision in August 2022 appointing Abdullah as Acting Governor of the Central Bank for the first time, succeeding Tarek Amer, followed by a one-year renewal of his appointment. The experienced banker oversaw the liberalization of the pound's exchange rate in March as part of an extended loan program with the International Monetary Fund.
