Major General Ismail Al-Qargawi, President of the Arab and UAE Basketball Federations, crowned the Egyptian team as champions of the 21st edition of the Arab Youth Basketball Championship, which concluded yesterday at the Cairo Indoor Halls following their victory over the Jordanian team with a score of 51-59. The Egyptian team finished the tournament with a perfect score, winning all four of their matches, while the Lebanese team secured second place with 5 points from one win, and Jordan placed third with the same score. As usual, the hosts imposed their distinctive rhythm and dominance in all matches, earning the championship title for the 13th time since the tournament began in 1979 in Saudi Arabia, and the eighth consecutive title.
In terms of individual honors, Egyptian player Ali Asran won the Best Player award, while Anthony Naya from Lebanon was the top scorer, and Omar Salman from Jordan was the leading scorer for three-pointers. The awards were presented by Mohamed Fathy, the tournament director, and Brigadier General Wael Lotfi, General Director of the Arab Federation.
