The Minister of Interior and Municipalities in the caretaker government, Bassam Mawlawi, expressed gratitude to the army and all security forces for their efforts to maintain security in various Lebanese regions. In a press conference after the Central Security Council meeting at the Ministry of Interior on Monday, Mawlawi emphasized "increasing security readiness to keep up with developments and protect citizens," noting that "the recent events are under ongoing investigations in accordance with established procedures."
He added, "Nothing is above the law, and investigations into the Ain al-Hilweh camp case are ongoing, with efforts ongoing to stabilize the situation and maintain calm. We will not allow the camps to become a gateway to disrupt the security of all Lebanese areas." Mawlawi also pointed out that "investigations into the incident in Ain Ebel are ongoing, and initial data indicate that there are no partisan backgrounds behind what occurred."
Commenting on the events in Al-Kahala, he stated: "We emphasize the necessity of a discourse that calls for coexistence and reinforces civil peace, especially the sermon of Bishop Abdel-Sater." He continued, "The security forces acted in Al-Kahala in a manner that protected citizens and civil peace," affirming "the pivotal role played by security and judicial agencies in achieving civil peace and stability in the country."
The meeting was attended by the public prosecutor, Judge Ghassan Khoury, Beirut Governor Judge Marwan Abboud, Director General of Internal Security Forces Major General Imad Osman, Director General of State Security Major General Toni Saliba, Secretary of the Supreme Defense Council Major General Muhammad Mustafa, Director General of General Security Major General Elias Bechara, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations in the Army Brigadier General Hassan Jouni, Chief of Information Branch Brigadier General Khaled Hamoud, Army Intelligence Director Brigadier General Toni Qahwaji, Head of Airport Security Major General Fadi Kfoury, Deputy Director General of State Security Administrative Major General Hassan Shaqir, Head of Information Affairs at General Security Major General Youssef El-Maddour, and Secretary of the Central Security Council Major General Sami Nasif.
