The Office of the Prime Minister of Iraq issued a statement on Thursday regarding the excessive and exaggerated praise of the government and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani. The office noted in its statement that "recently, there has been an emergence of media pages and accounts on social media, of various types, claiming to be connected to the government, intentionally displaying excessive and exaggerated praise for the government and the Prime Minister, using repulsive methods aimed at undermining the trust with citizens."
The statement emphasized that "there is no connection between the media office of the Prime Minister and this suspicious performance, which has clear ulterior motives in its attempt to mislead the public, nor with those behind it from parties and circles hurt by anti-corruption efforts and progress made in services, reform, and economic development."
It added that "the government is still working to achieve its goals and continues to complete its developmental and reform projects," noting that "the method of writing praises is not part of its policies at any stage, and this approach harms it and its team, especially since what is being presented in terms of work is its obligation and falls within its responsibilities."
The statement also mentioned that "Al-Sudani has stressed on multiple occasions that the primary duty of all arms of the government’s executive apparatus is to serve the citizen and meet their aspirations," urging citizens to "distinguish the irresponsible motives behind these pages and what they publish, while the concerned authorities will pursue these platforms with the same diligence and care they apply in pursuing platforms that violate the law and harm societal peace."
