The activities of the seventh day of the Liwa International Festival 2024, organized by the Liwa Sports Club in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, will kick off tomorrow, Thursday, in the Murab area of the Dhafra region.
Tomorrow morning, the competitions for the falconry contest will continue on its third day, featuring the professional category for chicks, which will include four heats that conclude the falconry competitions. The tournament utilizes the latest technologies for judging and result calculation, following the tally system that has been applied in falconry competitions in Murab for seasons.
Additionally, the Liwa "Burnout" Challenge will also commence tomorrow, featuring categories for saloon cars and four-wheel drives, with events scheduled to start at six in the evening and continue until midnight.
On another note, the Granis heats recorded significant success in participant numbers and competitive strength this morning, comprising a heat for the Shaheen and Tabi, and a heat for the Qarmousha and Pure. The first heat was won by falcon number 24 from the Rabdan team with a time of 17.194 seconds, followed by Saif Jamal Al-Falasi in second place and the Midan Falcons team in third. In the second heat, the Midan team claimed first place with the falcon Barak, finishing in 17.580 seconds, with Rabdan team in second place and Saif bin Hareez Al-Falasi in third.
Ahmed Bartaa Al-Hamli, a member of the organizing committee for the falconry races, expressed his happiness and pride in the prominent status that the Liwa International Festival has reached in its various activities. He stated, "What we have witnessed from various races and challenges this season proves that the 2024 edition of the festival is successful by all standards and has demonstrated a tangible integration in everything organized so far, and the surprises of the festival continue."
He confirmed that the falconry competitions have reached a notable level, especially with the large turnout for participation and the significant attendance throughout the days allocated for this contest. He added, "Falconry competitions hold a special place for the people of the region, and it is a beloved sport for a large segment of the community, witnessing great attendance and interest."
