The Japan Meteorological Agency confirmed today, Monday, that a "magnitude 5.1 earthquake shook areas northeast of Tokyo," noting that no tsunami warning has been issued. The Japanese news agency "Kyodo" reported that "the earthquake, which occurred in the northern Ibaraki Prefecture, had a magnitude of 5, which is 2 degrees lower than the Japanese earthquake scale of 7 in Hitachi, and registered 4 degrees in the nearby Takahagi." Local police stated that "there were no immediate reports of injuries in the prefecture."
