Trump’s Granddaughter Speaks: What She Revealed About Her Grandfather (Video)

The granddaughter of former U.S. President Donald Trump spoke during the Republican National Convention on Wednesday about her grandfather following the assassination attempt he faced during a campaign rally on Saturday in Pennsylvania. Kay Trump, the eldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr., stated according to ABC News: "I’m here today to share a side of my grandfather that people don’t often see. To me, he’s just an ordinary grandfather. He gives us candy and soda without our parents knowing. He always wants to know how we are doing in school."

She added, "When I made the honor roll at school, he told his friends to express how proud he was of me." Regarding the assassination attempt on her grandfather, she said: "I was shocked when I heard he was shot on Saturday; I just wanted to know if he was okay. It was unacceptable for someone to do that." She continued, "Many people have caused harm to my grandfather, but he remains strong… Grandpa, you are a great source of inspiration, and I love you." She added, "The media has made my grandfather look like a different person, but I know him for who he truly is," pointing out that he is "a very caring and loving person. He wants the best for this country and will fight every day to make America great again."

Kay Trump is the oldest among Trump’s 10 grandchildren and the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. from his ex-wife Vanessa, according to ABC News, which noted that "as one of the former president’s grandchildren, she is no stranger to being in the spotlight." At 17 years old, she is a golfer and has social media accounts, including a YouTube page dedicated to her passion for the sport. Earlier this year, she posted on social media that she won the women’s club championship at Trump Golf Club in Palm Beach, Florida, where she wrote in a post: "I’m very proud of my playing and the direction I’m heading, but there’s always room for improvement."
