Clashes in Eastern Euphrates: "SDF" Deploys Reinforcements

Clashes in Eastern Euphrates:

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have sent military reinforcements from Al-Hasakah to towns and cities in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, following an attack by local armed groups and formations affiliated with the regime and Iranian factions on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River controlled by the SDF. The supporting forces have been deployed in the cities of Al-Basirah and Al-Suwar in eastern Deir ez-Zor.

The SDF has imposed a complete curfew in the towns of Granij, Al-Kashkiyah, and Abu Hammam in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, coinciding with a wide-ranging search campaign for local militants. Armed groups from the local community, National Defense, and Iranian loyalists attacked SDF positions in eastern Euphrates in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, supported by artillery and mortar shelling.

Intense clashes broke out between the Deir ez-Zor Military Council and affiliated forces on one side and the attacking groups on the other in the vicinity of the villages of Diiban, Al-Latwa, and Abu Hammam after midnight on Tuesday-Wednesday and into this morning, without any change in control maps.

The military operations in recent hours resulted in the deaths of two civilians and injuries to five others in Diiban and the Al-Latwa neighborhood, with additional civilians wounded in the city of Al-Shuhail, as an initial toll.

Two days ago, a patrol from the International Coalition was stationed along the Euphrates River in the town of Al-Shannan in eastern Deir ez-Zor, within SDF-controlled areas, before withdrawing after about an hour, following information that Iranian factions had set up missile bases from the western side of the river in the Deir ez-Zor countryside in preparation for an attack on the towns of Diiban and Al-Tayyanah.

The Syrian Observatory noted that large military mobilizations of Iranian factions in western Euphrates areas are preparing for an assault on the towns of Diiban, Al-Hawaij, Al-Tayyanah, and Darnaj on the eastern bank of the river in Deir ez-Zor countryside. These mobilizations included all military formations affiliated with the Iranian factions, supported by various types of weapons, amidst skirmishes between forces on both sides of the river.
