Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on the outskirts of the town of Tamnin al-Tahta in the central Beqaa valley this Monday evening. Later reports indicated a series of intense Israeli airstrikes on several areas in Beqaa, targeting towns in the Baalbek district, the Baalbek-Riyaq highway, locations between Qasraba and Badnayel, and towns in Riyaq, Baalbek, and Tyre. Agencies, citing security sources, reported that an Israeli strike targeted a weapons depot belonging to Hezbollah in the Beqaa plain.
The National News Agency reported that “towns in the Baalbek district in the Beqaa area in eastern Lebanon were subjected to three hostile Israeli airstrikes,” without specifying what was hit. Meanwhile, the French news agency quoted a source close to Hezbollah, stating that “the Israeli strikes in the Beqaa area in eastern Lebanon targeted weapon depots belonging to Hezbollah.”
In the aftermath, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that “the enemy Israeli airstrikes on Beqaa resulted in an initial count of eight individuals injured, including six Lebanese citizens, a five-year-old Syrian girl, and a fifteen-year-old Syrian girl, all of whom were treated in emergency services.”
In contrast, Israeli media reported that an "unusual" wave of Israeli attacks is being carried out deep within Lebanese territory. The Israeli army confirmed on Monday evening that the air force had conducted strikes targeting several weapon depots in the Beqaa in deep Lebanon, adding: “We carried out strikes on Deir Qanoun and eliminated a person responsible for the missile unit in Hezbollah, and we struck a building where Hezbollah operatives were fortified in the Tyre area in southern Lebanon.”
