An earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale struck a region of Indonesia on Tuesday, followed by powerful aftershocks. The initial quake caused strong tremors that lasted for more than a minute.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located 46 kilometers east-southeast of the city of Palu, the capital of Central Sulawesi province.
The United States Geological Survey stated that the quake had a depth of approximately 10 kilometers.
Indonesia is situated on several seismic fault lines, making earthquakes and volcanic activities common occurrences in the country.
