Lebanese Army Chief, General Rudolf Hekel, recently visited the Fouad Shehab Command and Staff College, where he met with officers from the 40th and English-language 2nd Staff Courses ahead of their graduation, along with officers from the 64th Battalion Commander Course, in the presence of the college's commander.
During the visit, General Hekel highlighted the importance of these courses for enhancing the leadership and academic capabilities of officers and boosting their decision-making skills to face challenges under various circumstances.
He pointed out that the nature of modern warfare and military leadership requirements have undergone significant changes, necessitating adaptation to scientific and technological advancements and leveraging all available capabilities. He emphasized the importance of exchanging experiences to broaden officers' perspectives and refine their professional skills.
The army chief praised the participation of officers from security agencies and friendly nations in the courses, considering this diversity as a means to foster cooperation and knowledge exchange.
General Hekel stated, "The role of the army becomes evident in difficult times, requiring you to maintain patience and faith in your mission despite challenges. The military institution does not stop at criticisms stemming from narrow interests as it prioritizes the nation's supreme interests. Be loyal to Lebanon, and let your allegiance be to the institution and the nation, beyond any other considerations."
He also assured the officers of the Battalion Commander Course that their leadership responsibilities mark a pivotal point in their military careers, directly affecting the performance of the units they lead.
Concluding his visit, he urged the officers to carry their responsibilities with confidence, uphold the values of the military institution, and work with dedication for the nation's service, affirming that the army's strength and cohesion are fundamental to Lebanon's stability and protection.
