Lebanese MPs Demand Compensation from Iran for War Damages

Former Deputy Prime Minister and current member of the Strong Republic Bloc, MP Ghassan Hasbani, announced on the platform "X": "Members of the 'Strong Republic' Bloc and the 'Lebanese Kataeb' party, along with MPs Michel Moawad, Fouad Makhzoumi, Ashraf Rifi, and Michel Douaihy, have signed a petition submitted to Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. The petition urges the Lebanese government to prepare a legal, financial, and diplomatic case requesting compensation from the Islamic Republic of Iran for the damages and losses due to the recent war. This petition holds significant political and legal weight as it represents the first organized parliamentary initiative to introduce this issue within Lebanon's constitutional institutions. It calls on the government to document the damages, assign responsibility, and act to protect the rights of Lebanon and the Lebanese through available legal and diplomatic channels."
