Israeli Settlers Attack Palestinian Homes in West Bank

Israeli settlers launched an attack on Friday targeting homes in the village of Al-Meniyah, southeast of Bethlehem in the West Bank.

Sources from the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported that Israeli settlers hurled stones at residents' homes and vandalized the main electricity line supplying the village, causing panic and fear among the locals.

The settlers have recently increased their assaults against the residents of Al-Meniyah, with incidents involving home attacks, assaults on citizens, and attempted vehicular assaults.

The United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom have imposed further sanctions on "extremist Israeli groups" due to violence against Palestinian communities in the West Bank.

Around 500,000 Israelis reside in West Bank settlements, which are largely deemed illegal by the international community and seen as a significant obstacle to peace.

The United Nations and most countries consider Israeli settlements illegal under international law, as they violate the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits the transfer of civilian populations into occupied territory.

Israel disputes this, claiming the West Bank, which it occupied in the 1967 war, is a contested area, citing security concerns and historical and biblical ties to the land.
