Prince William Surpasses King Charles in Wealth with Duchy of Cornwall Assets

The annual financial accounts of the Duchy of Cornwall, released on Friday, reveal that the net asset value of the duchy stands at approximately £1.2 billion, making Prince William, the Prince of Wales, a billionaire based on the value of assets he manages as the Duke of Cornwall.

The report indicates that Prince William received a private income of £21.6 million during the 2025-2026 financial year. For the first time, it also disclosed the taxes paid by him, revealing that he has remitted more than £20 million to the UK Treasury since he assumed the title of Prince of Wales in 2022—a move Kensington Palace stated is aimed at enhancing transparency.

In contrast, the Sunday Times Rich List estimates King Charles III's personal wealth at about £640 million, making the value of the Duchy of Cornwall's assets higher than his personal fortune.

Additionally, Prince William announced that starting from the 2026-2027 financial year, he will forgo the personal benefit of an annual income of £1.5 million from the rental of Dartmoor Prison. These funds will instead be allocated to supporting developmental projects that benefit the local community in Princetown.
