Hussein Al-Hajj Hassan, head of the Baalbek-Hermel bloc and member of the 'Loyalty to the Resistance' bloc, stated that 'one of the most crucial principles of negotiation globally is for the negotiator to hold strong cards. However, the authority's strength in Lebanon relies on the U.S. and its favor. They entered direct negotiations with the adversary, resulting in a vague agreement. As one Lebanese political leader noted, this agreement is trilateral in form but unilateral in substance, implying that it appears to involve Lebanon, the U.S., and Israel, while in reality, it solely benefits Israel.'
During a Hezbollah honoring ceremony in Al-Janah, he claimed that 'this agreement was imposed by America on both Israel and the Lebanese authority, which lacks negotiation experience and international relations, only interested in maintaining power.'
He continued, 'When the agreement between America and Iran was signed, Israeli officials and media described it as catastrophic. In contrast, when the Lebanese authorities signed the agreement with Israel, Israeli officials and military described it as a significant achievement for Israel. Thus, it's evident that what Iran brought to Lebanon is a positive, whereas what the authorities brought is detrimental.'
He asserted that 'the authority in Lebanon can't claim to represent the entirety of its people; it represents only a faction, not the whole. We're not discussing Hezbollah and Amal's environment but highlighting significant political forces in media objecting to the agreement boasted by those in power.'
In conclusion, he mentioned that 'those in authority took an oath to unite the Lebanese, but they have torn that unity by tying a disgraceful agreement to ceasefire, enemy withdrawal, return of refugees, prisoners, and reconstruction upon Israeli approval. Under this framework, whenever the Lebanese military is perceived as inadequate, the Israeli military may impose conditions. Consequently, people cannot return to their villages. Worse still, this authority linked prisoners' return with Ron Arad and even threatens to employ foreign forces to disarm the resistance; yet, they will not succeed in this disarmament, even with foreign help.'
