Prime Minister Nawaf Salam welcomed a delegation from the southern town of al-Dhahira, where they discussed the challenging conditions faced by locals due to displacement and urged attention to housing issues.
Ali Abu Samra, speaking on behalf of the delegation, stated, "We presented our difficult situation to the Prime Minister due to displacement and requested he address the issue of housing. He assured us of positive outcomes."
Salam emphasized that "the state will not leave the residents of al-Dhahira and other southern areas to bear the burden of displacement alone," highlighting that the government is exploring various options to tackle housing concerns, such as securing rental allowances for displaced families and expediting procedures in this regard.
He added that these measures coincide with efforts aimed at ensuring full Israeli withdrawal and creating conditions that enable the safe return of southern residents to their towns and lands.
In another meeting, Salam met with the Middle East director of Reporters Without Borders, Jonathan Dagher, accompanied by the organization's Lebanon correspondent, Elissar Kbeisi, to discuss media laws and the state of media freedoms in Lebanon.
Additionally, Salam received the Governor of Mount Lebanon and Head of the Hajj and Umrah Affairs Commission, Judge Mohammad Makawi, to discuss the organization of land-based Umrah trips and measures ensuring pilgrim safety and rights, while defining the responsibilities of companies and stakeholders.
The meeting also covered actions being taken to mitigate bird congregations around Rafic Hariri International Airport and to ensure aviation safety through coordination among ministries, agencies, and relevant municipalities.
