U.S. Vice President JD Vance stated on Thursday that China is ready to cooperate in efforts to economically isolate Iran, as Washington continues to exert economic and military pressure on Tehran amidst ongoing confrontations between the two sides.
Speaking to journalists at the White House, Vance confirmed that the United States will maintain its economic and military pressure on Iran, noting that Washington possesses "many options and tools" to address Tehran, without specifying their nature.
Regarding the possibility of resuming negotiations, the U.S. Vice President said Washington will not engage in talks with Tehran unless it ceases firing upon ships, emphasizing that the United States does not target Iranian civilians.
15 Million Barrels Through Hormuz
Vance addressed the flow of maritime traffic and energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz, stating that oil flows through the strategic channel have returned to their previous levels.
He added that approximately 15 million barrels of oil crossed the strait on Wednesday, indicating a return to the flow of supplies through one of the world's crucial energy corridors.
He also emphasized that the U.S. administration is involving the "most capable elements" in the U.S. military in the confrontation with Iran.
Investigation into Wedding Strike
In other matters, Vance announced that the United States is investigating a strike on a wedding in southern Iran, which Tehran reported resulted in four deaths and blamed on Washington.
Vance mentioned, "I know we are investigating the matter," but expressed skepticism about the Iranian account of the incident.
He added that Iran's state media "has not been a reliable source on what's happening in this conflict," leading him to approach the Iranian narrative with considerable doubt.
