The Virgin Bride Tried to End Her Life: Solving the Mystery of the Dakahlia Bride Incident

Investigations conducted by Dakahlia police have unraveled the mystery of the discovery of a bride’s body just three days after her marriage. After regaining consciousness from a coma, the bride confessed to attempting suicide due to severe depression. The police had found her with a stab wound to the neck and several stabs to the chest, abdomen, and left hand inside her home just three days after her wedding.

The bride provided detailed confessions, asserting that she tried to end her life to escape her marriage, stating that from the very first moment she entered the marital apartment, she rejected the idea of continuing with the marriage. A team from the public prosecution visited the hospital to hear her testimony in detail after she regained consciousness. She explained that on the day of the incident, she experienced intense depression and decided to take her life after living in “hell” for three days, claiming that her husband did not approach her and she felt suffocated whenever he did.

She further reported that her husband had brought a sheikh to examine her, who claimed that she was possessed by a jinn preventing her from completing the marriage. On the morning of the incident, her husband went to bring the same sheikh again, prompting her decision to end her life to escape the misery she was experiencing.

The autopsy report revealed that the bride was still a virgin, and the nature of her wounds aligned with her statements. Major General Sayed Sultan, the Director of Dakahlia Security, had received notification from Major General Ihab Attia, the Director of Dakahlia Investigations, regarding a report from Colonel Mohamed Jado, the head of the Al-Jamalya Police Station, from the husband who informed that he found his wife in their apartment with multiple stab wounds.

An investigation team arrived at the scene and discovered that the wife had over 20 stab wounds scattered across her abdomen, hands, and chest, in addition to the neck wound. She was transferred to the emergency hospital in Mansoura for urgent surgery.

The husband and the sheikh accompanying him were detained, and surveillance cameras around the couple's home were secured while a report of the incident was filed for the public prosecution to investigate, though they were later released. The husband stated that his wife had been hearing voices and felt restrained, unable to approach her as she screamed, claiming to see ghosts in the house. Her family had requested him to bring a sheikh for her examination, who confirmed that she was “possessed and had been subjected to sorcery.”

The husband emphasized that his wife's mental state declined significantly, leading her to continuous bouts of crying. On the day of the incident, she had an episode of crying and screaming, prompting him to leave the house to bring the sheikh again. Upon returning, he found her lying on the floor, covered in blood, between life and death, leading to her immediate hospitalization to save her.

A team from the public prosecution went to the marital home, where the wife was found, and discovered two knives with the wife's blood on them. There were signs of salt scattered throughout the area, and upon reviewing the surveillance footage in detail, they noted that some windows were open.

The prosecution, forensic evidence team, and investigative officers thoroughly reviewed the surveillance footage around the house. The sister of the bride confirmed that she had called her during the husband’s absence shortly before the incident, stating her poor mental health, severe depression, and that she was seeing moving ghosts in the house, while her husband went out to fetch a sheikh for her treatment.
