U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed on Monday that the United States is set to approve another military aid package for Ukraine worth $350 million. Blinken stated in a statement that the military aid package includes additional ammunition for the U.S.-provided "HIMARS" rocket launchers and "howitzer" guns that Ukraine uses for its defense, as well as ammunition for Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, "HARM" missiles, anti-tank weapons, riverine boats, and other equipment. Blinken noted that "only Russia can end the war today. Until it does, we will remain united with Ukraine, no matter how long it takes."
Additionally, the European Defense Agency confirmed that 17 countries from the European Union, along with Norway, agreed today to purchase ammunition to assist Ukraine and replenish stockpiles. The agency observed that the project paves the way for EU member states and Norway to proceed with two tracks: a rapid two-year program to procure 155 mm artillery shells and a seven-year project for various types of ammunition. The countries that signed the agreement include Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, and Norway, with other countries ready to join soon "after taking national actions." Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur told reporters on the sidelines of the EU Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministers meeting in Brussels, "We reached a political agreement to send one million rounds of 155 mm ammunition to Ukraine."
