The Yemeni government news agency reported that the internationally recognized Foreign Minister Ahmad Bin Mubarak met with his Syrian counterpart Faisal al-Miqdad in Cairo on Wednesday, marking the first meeting since 2011. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Arab League ministerial meeting. The two ministers discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, as well as updates on the situation in the region. Syrian authorities had recognized the Houthi group as a de facto authority in Yemen and approved the appointment of their first ambassador to Damascus, Naif al-Qaness, in early March 2016.
