Iran's Foreign Minister: Expansion of Gaza War is

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stated that the expansion of the war in Gaza is "inevitable" amid the rising aggression against civilians, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA). The minister mentioned in a phone call with his Iraqi counterpart Fouad Hussein that U.S. support for Israel is "the main reason for the escalation of the current crisis in the region." The agency also reported that the two ministers "agreed to support the Palestinian people" while discussing the current developments in Palestine and the genocide in Gaza, as reported by the Arab World News Agency.

On Saturday, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei met with Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas's political bureau, in Tehran, according to IRNA. The agency quoted Osman Hamdan, a representative of Hamas in Lebanon, stating that Haniyeh traveled to the Iranian capital "a few days ago" for discussions. Iranian media did not publish reports about the meeting, suggesting that the visit was kept confidential. The timing of Haniyeh's arrival in Tehran remains unclear.

Iran maintains good relations with Hamas, and Abdollahian has regularly exchanged views with Haniyeh regarding the war between Israel and Gaza in recent weeks.
