The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations indicated today, Tuesday, that "Washington needs to see 'substantial changes' before resuming its funding for UNRWA, following Israeli accusations that some agency employees were involved in Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7." U.S. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield welcomed the organization's decision to conduct an investigation and review the activities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). She stated, "We need to examine the organization's activities, how it operates in Gaza, how it manages its staff, and ensure accountability for individuals who commit criminal acts, like those twelve individuals, so that UNRWA can continue its important work."
