Iranian state media reported that Iran executed four individuals today, Monday, for their alleged involvement in an Israeli intelligence operation, following the rejection of their appeal by the Supreme Court. The four were accused of illegally infiltrating Iranian territory from the Kurdistan region of Iraq to carry out a bombing at a factory in Isfahan that produces military equipment for the Iranian Ministry of Defense. Reports indicated that the bombing was supposed to take place in the summer of 2022 for the Israeli intelligence service (Mossad), but Iranian intelligence foiled the operation. Iran and Israel have long been adversaries and are currently at odds over the Iranian nuclear program. Israel accuses Iran of supporting armed attacks against it, while Iran claims that Israel has carried out several assassinations targeting Iranian officials and scientists. Israel neither confirms nor denies responsibility for these assassinations.
