Mikati Discusses Development Plan for 2024 with Riza and Heads Communications Meeting

Prime Minister Najib Mikati received the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Lebanon and Humanitarian Coordinator, Omran Riza, this morning at Serail. During the meeting, Riza presented the development plan for 2024, and they discussed the economic and social conditions in the south. Riza also informed Mikati about Canada and Sweden's decision to resume funding for UNRWA, with Mikati thanking both countries for reconsidering their support for UNRWA in Lebanon and urging other nations to continue supporting the agency. The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister’s advisor, Ziad Mikati.

In the Ministry of Communications, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting that included Minister of Communications Johnny Karam, Chairman of the Council for Development and Reconstruction Nabil El Jisr, Director General of Investment and Maintenance at the Ministry of Communications Basel Al Ayoub, Director General of Ogero Imad Kreidieh, Director General of Cable and Wireless Construction and Equipment Najib Andraous, and several relevant officials.

After the meeting, Minister Karam stated, "The discussion focused on securing funding for the installation of solar energy devices provided to us as a gift from the Chinese government, and we will launch a campaign to find funding through contacts with economic bodies, the industrialists' association, and several stakeholders, considering that the internet is a necessity for all citizens in the country, and we strive to continue working on it by providing the best service."

The Prime Minister also met with Deputy Prime Minister Saadeh Al-Shami.
