The Public Prosecution Authority confirmed its continuous monitoring "moment by moment of the preliminary investigations carried out by security agencies regarding significant crimes, especially those posing a risk to the community and family, particularly when related to minors or individuals at risk." In a statement, it emphasized the "necessity of adhering to the confidentiality of investigations, especially in light of the provisions of Article 53 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which states that investigations remain secret unless the case is referred to the trial court, with the exception of matters related to the indictment decision."
The prosecution added, "Anyone who discloses the confidentiality of the investigation will face prosecution before the single judge within the jurisdiction of the alleged offense and will be punished with imprisonment from one month to a year and with a fine from one hundred thousand to one million lira, or one of these penalties."
It reiterated that "the emphasis on the principle of confidentiality in investigations is not intended in any way to be lenient with offenders but to protect the ongoing investigations, especially since this confidentiality is a fundamental legal requirement for the integrity of these investigations, and it serves as a fundamental guarantee for minors enshrined in the Law for the Protection of Juvenile Offenders or Those at Risk, Law No. 422/2002."
