Dubai Hosts First Electric Scooter Racing Cup in the Middle East

The International Micro-Mobility and Sports Federation, in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, has announced the launch of the Dubai Electric Scooter Cup, which will showcase electric scooter racing and the potential of micro-mobility. As a culmination of the Year of Sustainability in the United Arab Emirates, the Dubai Electric Scooter Cup will take place on December 16, 2023, bringing together the world’s best riders who will compete on the fastest electric scooters in the streets of Dubai.

In celebration of sustainability, new mobility, safety, and inclusivity, 16 top riders and scooters will compete together in a knockout race for the inaugural title of the Dubai Electric Scooter Cup. A unique street circuit will be designed in Downtown Dubai, allowing riders to race around iconic landmarks through pathways and bridges at speeds exceeding 100 kilometers per hour.

The "RS-Zero" DXB scooter has been specially designed for the Dubai Cup. It is the fastest racing scooter in the world, with a top speed exceeding 140 km/h. It embodies a technological work of art, featuring an incline angle of over 58 degrees, and is engineered to provide optimal performance.

The International Federation is leading a campaign to develop micro-mobility as an exciting new form of racing and to promote more sustainable mobility within cities through micro-vehicles. This collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council aims to pioneer safety, infrastructure, and technology development in the rapidly growing sector of mobility through these vehicles.

Alex Fores, President of the International Micro-Mobility and Sports Federation, stated: “I am pleased to take this important step in a city that strives to find new mobility solutions. This unique event will showcase the racing potential of micro-mobility, integrated with uncompromising safety principles for the cities of the future. This is a historic agreement for the federation with the Dubai Sports Council and signifies a bright future.”

Meanwhile, Saeed Mohammed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, said: “The Dubai Electric Scooter Cup will serve as a showcase for the latest electronic technologies and the pinnacle of scooter racing. We are excited to work with the federation on safety challenges and integration in the micro-mobility sector. We welcome teams and all international riders to race in the downtown streets to highlight this development.”
