Spanish media reports indicate that Paris Saint-Germain is ready to break the bank to secure the signing of young Barcelona star, Spanish international Lamine Yamal, this summer, in an effort to compensate for the departure of former star Kylian Mbappé, who moved to Real Madrid. The French league champions have long admired the young Barcelona talent, previously offering an astonishing €200 million for his signature earlier this year; however, the Catalan giant rejected the offer, as they were not willing to part with the young prodigy.
According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," Paris Saint-Germain has increased their previous offer by €50 million, now proposing a record sum of €250 million for the young player this summer. Nonetheless, "Blaugrana" remains firm in its stance; it is unlikely that they will sell the Spanish international.
Paris Saint-Germain hopes to replicate what they did in 2017 when they signed Brazilian Neymar da Silva during his peak at Barcelona for €222 million, a deal dubbed the "century deal," making the Brazilian the most expensive player in football history since then.
Since Kylian Mbappé's departure to Real Madrid at the end of the 2023/24 season, Paris Saint-Germain has been searching for his successor, viewing Yamal as a future star and the person who can fill the void left by the French captain, following his successful season with the Catalan club. The 16-year-old player has also been delivering consistent performances with the Spanish national team in the 2024 European Championship.
The Barcelona star is set to appear in Spain's next match on Sunday when they face Georgia in the Round of 16 of the 2024 UEFA European Championship.
