The Litani River Authority announced a sudden malfunction on June 15, 2026, affecting the main 52 cm diameter pipeline near intake P.S. 8-9/5. This occurred within 40 meters distance in the sub-road of Labaa, part of the Saida-Jazzin irrigation project, leading to significant water leakage onto the main roads, nearby lands, and buildings.
Technical teams from the Labaa irrigation department, under the supervision of the Investment and Maintenance Department, immediately began field inspections and excavations to identify the nature and extent of the malfunction, and to secure the necessary parts and equipment for repairs.
Due to the malfunction's magnitude and the technical work needed, the authority had to temporarily halt irrigation water supply for at least two days from the mentioned date, until maintenance is complete and the network can securely resume operation.
The water supply interruption affects the towns of Marah Al-Habas, Karhkha, Labaa, partially Ain Al-Mir, Shwalliq, Kfaryia, Wadi Baanqoudine, Kfarjara, Al-Salihiyya, Baskinta, Majdelyoon, Karyia (partially), and Abra. The authority clarified that water supply will resume immediately after repairs and maintenance are completed.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to providing top-notch services to subscribers and meeting their irrigation water needs, especially amidst rising temperatures and increasing agricultural water demands, supporting farmers' resilience and continued agricultural activity despite the country's challenging conditions.
The authority also reminded its subscribers to settle their annual dues at the collection department of the Labaa irrigation district during official working hours.
