Israel on High Alert After Ebola Case Detected, More Infections Possible

The Israeli authorities have declared a state of emergency and health alert after a person was diagnosed with the Ebola virus, implementing a 'quarantine' measure for the infected individual.

The Hebrew Channel 'Kan' reported on Saturday night that the Israeli suspected of being infected with Ebola has been isolated, while the health system is preparing to accommodate more potentially infected individuals.

The channel noted that although the disease is 'fatal,' the likelihood of it spreading widely in Israel is 'low,' according to their claims.

The person potentially infected with the virus returned from the Democratic Republic of the Congo three days ago and received medical treatment after developing fever and headache, which are common initial symptoms of the virus.

The Israeli Ministry of Health announced that the infected individual has been transferred to the 'Rambam Medical Center,' which is designated for such cases and is under isolation according to established protocols.

The ministry confirmed that it is continuously monitoring the virus situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, and is fully prepared for such cases.

The statement added that 'as part of the preparations, professional guidelines have been distributed to relevant medical teams and hospitals to address suspected cases.'
