The political bureau of the Amal Movement has voiced its opposition following the signing of an agreement between Israel and Lebanon. The movement reiterated its stand against direct negotiations with the adversary and emphasized adherence to international legitimacy resolutions.
The statement labeled the agreement as 'unbalanced' and biased in Israel's favor over Lebanon's national interests. It highlighted that the agreement poses political risks, undermines sovereignty, and does not form a fair basis that ensures Lebanon's rights and safeguards its institutions.
Amal Movement reaffirmed its core positions, which include obligating Israel to a full withdrawal from all Lebanese territories up to the internationally recognized borders, enhancing the Lebanese army's presence, exercising authority over the entire land, and facilitating the return of residents to their villages, commencing reconstruction plans, and rehabilitating infrastructure.
The movement also underlined the significance of continued indirect negotiations to resolve outstanding issues, including boundary demarcation and prisoner files, as per the mechanisms adopted in the November 2024 agreement, insisting that any deal not meeting these principles remains unacceptable.
Concluding its statement, the Amal Movement called for strengthening national unity and avoiding division, contending that the solidarity of Lebanese people constitutes a 'formidable barrier' against challenges facing the nation.
