The Israeli Defense Minister lauded the framework agreement signed yesterday between Lebanon and Israel in Washington D.C., after several negotiation sessions, as a “historic event and a political and security achievement for Israel.”
The minister stated that “the security zone in Lebanon will remain free of Hezbollah's population and infrastructure, and we will maintain the freedom of operation for our forces in southern Lebanon.”
He added that “the agreement with Lebanon establishes a new and more secure reality at the border,” affirming that Israel “will not withdraw from Lebanon, including the Sheik heights.”
