The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement:
On March 16, 2026, in the Chyah area, two unidentified individuals in a four-wheel drive vehicle ran over M. F. (born in 1974, Lebanese) and his brother M. F. (born in 1982), firing shots at them. This resulted in the death of the first individual due to his injuries, while the second was transferred to the hospital for treatment. A third individual was also injured, later succumbing to their wounds, and the perpetrators fled to an unknown location.
Immediately, orders were given to the relevant units in the Information Division to conduct field and intelligence operations to uncover the details of this horrific murder and apprehend the assailants. Through investigations, inquiries, and witness statements, the division identified the suspects, including G. H. (born in 1982, Lebanese), known for previous crimes of kidnapping and unlawful detention. He is considered dangerous and continually armed.
On June 11, 2026, after careful monitoring and surveillance, one of the division's patrols successfully apprehended him in Aley while he was in a vehicle that was confiscated.
Upon searching him and the vehicle, a military pistol along with a magazine and 15 live rounds were seized. Legal action has been taken against him, and he has been handed over with the confiscated items to the competent authorities as per the judicial reference. Work continues to arrest the second suspect.
