Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea announced from Baabda Palace that Lebanon cannot remain in a state of uncertainty, emphasizing that establishing the state requires weapons to be exclusively in its hands.
Geagea added, “We confirmed with President Joseph Aoun that we cannot do anything without forming an actual state in Lebanon, which requires having one army and one set of weapons.”
He stressed the need for Israel to withdraw from the south and for reconstruction to take place, considering that achieving this first requires the establishment of an actual state capable of exerting its authority.
Geagea pointed out that “we should all comply with the decisions issued by the Lebanese state,” noting that “the covenant is embodied in the formation of the parliament and government, and these concepts should not be used improperly.”
He affirmed that “there is a Lebanese state represented by the Presidents of the Republic and the government, and it is the authority that decides what should be done in critical matters, including those related to the Israeli presence, not any other party.”
