Trump Announces U.S. Control Over Strait of Hormuz with Plans for Fee Collection

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Monday that the United States is likely to take control of the Strait of Hormuz and emphasized that the country should be compensated for managing this critical waterway.

In a phone interview on the program (Fox and Friends) on Fox News, Trump remarked, "We will control the strait, and perhaps we will manage it. We will become the guardian of the strait. Maybe we'll be called the guardian angel of the strait. We should be compensated for that."

Trump also referred to the memorandum of understanding with Iran, saying, "We had an agreement and they broke it."

Earlier on Monday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated it is looking to establish a joint mechanism with Oman regarding the security of the Strait of Hormuz, accusing American pressures of hindering these efforts.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei clarified that Tehran will not fulfill its obligations under the memorandum of understanding with Washington unless the other party meets its commitments.
