Russian authorities acknowledged on Friday that some regions in the country are facing a new fuel supply shortage as Ukraine intensifies its attacks on Russian oil refineries.
Ukraine is focusing its strikes using drones and long-range missiles on oil refineries in an effort to weaken Russia's ability to continue the war.
Russia has halted operations at a major oil refinery in Orsk, about 1,300 kilometers from the front line, for six months after it was attacked this week.
The Russian government stated on social media: "The situation remains concerning in several regions of the country regarding fuel supplies to service stations."
The statement explained that oil companies "are taking necessary measures to increase supplies to the most affected areas."
It noted that the government held a meeting to discuss the supply shortage, highlighting that Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, responsible for the energy sector, issued orders to monitor fuel prices.
