The media and public relations department in the General Directorate of Civil Defense issued a statement indicating that a Lebanese Civil Defense member sustained minor injuries following the explosion of an old landmine, a remnant from the war, in the Cedars of Tannourine Nature Reserve – Batroun District. The explosion occurred when a rock fell on the landmine, causing it to detonate. The injured member was transported to a hospital to receive medical treatment.
Lebanese Civil Defense teams, with the participation of units from around ten centers and supported by a Lebanese army helicopter, are continuing operations to extinguish the fire, working to contain the blaze and prevent its spread. Field operations at the site are still ongoing.
